The Village

Terms of Service

These are the terms you agree to when you use The Village. Using the platform means you accept them.

1. Who Can Join

You must be at least 13 years old. You must give a real email address you control. One person, one account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself.

2. Your Content Stays Yours

Everything you post here belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it.

By posting, you give us permission to display, store, and distribute that content on the platform so it can reach the members you intended. That permission ends when you delete the content, except where it has already been shared by others.

You confirm that what you post is yours to post, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

3. What You May Not Do

You may not use this platform to:

• Post hate speech, slurs, or content attacking people for who they are.
• Threaten, harass, stalk, or intimidate anyone.
• Post sexual content, or any content that sexualizes a minor.
• Share someone's private information without their consent.
• Impersonate another person, a moderator, an organization, or this platform.
• Post spam, scams, or deceptive schemes.
• Upload malware, or attempt to break, probe, or overload the platform.
• Scrape or harvest member data by any automated means.
• Break the law, or help someone else break it.

4. Moderation

We moderate this platform. We can remove content, edit profiles, warn, timeout, suspend, or remove accounts that break these terms.

Our Privacy Policy sets out exactly what moderators can and cannot do, and confirms that every moderator action is permanently logged.

5. Groups

Any member can start a group. The member who starts it becomes its Leader.

• A Leader sets the group's name, description, category, and whether it is public or private.
• A Leader can remove members from their group and appoint moderators within it.
• A Leader cannot simply leave a group. They must hand it to another member first, or close it.
• A group is still bound by these terms and the Community Guidelines. Platform moderators can act inside any group.

6. Copyright

If you believe content here infringes your copyright, write to mailbox@thevillage.llc with:

• A description of the work you own.
• A link to the content you say infringes it.
• Your name and contact details.
• A statement that you believe in good faith the use was not authorized.
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your report is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act for them.

We aim to review copyright reports within two business days. Accounts that repeatedly infringe will be removed.

7. Closing Your Account

You can close your account at any time by writing to mailbox@thevillage.llc.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we can, we will tell you why.

8. The Platform Is Provided As It Is

We work to keep this platform running and safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or that every piece of content will be caught before you see it. The platform is provided as it is, without warranties.

Content posted by members is theirs, not ours. We are not responsible for it.

9. Limits

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the platform. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is meaningful, we will update the date at the top and notify members on the platform. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the change.
